So, guess what. It's Katharine Hepburn's birthday today!
And I totally forgot. Because I was too busy ordering Star Trek lego off of eBay. It's her 102nd.
A lot of people call her an amazing woman. I agree with this sentiment, but I feel it's cliched. A lot of stuff people say about her is cliched. Yes, she was a somewhat of a pioneer by wearing pants everyday before it was socially acceptable to do so, blah, blah, blah, blah.
Merriam-Webster Online lists the following words as synonyms for marvelous:
amazing, astonishing, astounding, awesome, awful, eye-opening, fabulous, miraculous, portentous, prodigious, staggering, stunning, stupendous, sublime, surprising, wonderful, wondrousI personally think she was (and is, since she left so many movies behind) every single one of those things.
I do not think she was the greatest actress ever, nor is she even my personal favourite. But she was good. She was good at delivering lines and her strong personality made her magnetic to those watching the films. I think people love a strong female lead, and she certainly was a strong female lead. I think this is probably why she's become such an icon.
TL;DR: SHE WAS AWESOME.
And I love her. Like, a lot.

( Some pictures, as is customary with any birthday post. But only a few, because I don't want to be late for my Biology class. )
